Summary
Leadership To take an active interest in working parties and groups within the Trust to develop and improve on service delivery, protocols and guidelines, especially in relation to peer worker roles. To participate in the audit process, linking in with the clinical governance agenda. To facilitate the development of a positive and supportive team culture by taking responsibility for dealing effectively with potential conflict. To advise, encourage and share knowledge utilising the latest research and practice development, through literature and peer reviews. Linking with key partner organisations. Peer Trainer skills To research and gather a wide range of information and refine this for use in courses, Work alone at times, under the direction of the Recovery College Lead and always with access to support and supervision. Ability to manage and prioritise own workload effectively. To positively promote the principles of the Recovery College. Maintain extensive knowledge and links with community resources. Able to deliver courses to groups, and individually with people experiencing mental health problems. Able to manage group sessions effectively, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment. Able to apply principles of the strengths model within course design and delivery. Friendly and sensitive to the needs and the challenges experienced by individuals with mental health problems, additional needs, learning disabilities, and long-term health conditions. Able to work effectively within a team environment. Have a high level of self-awareness, being able to critically appraise own performance and open to constructive feedback. Motivating and enthusiastic. Administration To take part, and assist, in the planning and delivery relating to the Recovery College Working collaboratively with the Recovery College Administrator Promotion and communication about the college. To support students of the college to access information on health promotion, mental and physical wellbeing. To be able to effectively communicate with colleagues, peers, managers and with organisations in the delivery of the college. Support data collection and evidence gathering, as part of the review and evaluation of the college. Report any untoward incidents or unusual occurrences or concerns to the Recovery College lead as soon as practically possible. Training & Development To undertake mandatory training and workshops. To undertake a regular appraisal, developing a personal development plan that includes competencies relevant to the identified post. To maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to Recovery College, the specific service user group and peer support. To raise the profile of the Recovery College and the role of Peer Trainer within NELFT and to external organisations. Where relevant delivery of presentations, workshops, and participation in Trust-wide peer related projects and audits. To work with Recovery College Lead using regular supervision to monitor job role and function and in identifying own areas for development. To participate in regular peer supervision sessions Specific Tasks directly related to the post: Assisting the Recovery College Lead Welcoming and induction to new students to the college Assist and support service users to identify their strengths, personal interests and goals- to establish individual learning plans. Promotion of the Recovery College Support with staff inductions and students visiting the college. Support the recruitment of volunteers and provide support to volunteers. Steering Group attendance, and other meetings as relevant Please note that this job description is not exhaustive.
