Summary
A Pakistani Curry Chef is responsible for preparing authentic, high-quality Pakistani dishes, specializing in complex masalas, gravies, karahi, and tandoori items. Key duties include managing the curry section, controlling stock, adhering to food hygiene (HACCP) standards, and assisting in menu development. Extensive experience in traditional Pakistani cuisine is required.
Key Responsibilities
Cooking & Preparation: Expertly prepare, cook, and present authentic Pakistani curry dishes, including Lahori, Peshawari, or Karachi-style specialties.
Spice & Gravy Expertise: Skillfully blend spices and prepare base gravies, masalas, and sauces.
Tandoor/Grill Handling: Manage tandoor ovens for Naan, and prepare skewered meats (kebabs).
Menu Development: Collaborate with the Head Chef to innovate dishes and improve menu offerings.
Inventory & Hygiene: Monitor ingredient stocks, manage wastage, and adhere to strict food safety and hygiene (HACCP) standards.
Kitchen Management: Maintain a clean work area, supervise junior staff, and ensure timely food delivery during busy service hours.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience: Proven experience as a chef, with in-depth knowledge of Pakistani culinary techniques.
Passion for Flavours: Deep understanding of traditional spice profiles and slow-cooking methods.
Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for extended hours.
Team Player: Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
Typical Working Conditions
Full-time positions, often requiring weekend and evening availability.
High-pressure kitchen environment with heavy lifting and long periods of standing.
