Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

• Lead, direct and develop the school choir, delivering high-quality, inclusive rehearsals that build vocal confidence and musical skill in students of all abilities.
• Create a vibrant and welcoming choir culture that nurtures a love of singing, teamwork and self-expression.
• Plan and deliver engaging musical repertoires, ensuring a diverse and culturally rich selection of pieces that appeal to students and reflect the school’s values.
• Inspire students to take part in extra-curricular music, actively encouraging participation and removing barriers so that all students feel able to join.
• Organise and lead regular performances, including school events, assemblies, concerts, community functions and collaborative showcases with other local schools or groups.
• Use choir and singing activities to strengthen community engagement, acting as a musical ambassador for the college at local events and celebrations.
• Collaborate and work closely with staff across the college and the Trust, to ensure the outcomes of the choir are complementary to both music and the arts curriculums, whilst promoting the benefits of music for wellbeing, confidence, behaviour and belonging.
• Identify and develop student leadership opportunities within the choir, such as section leaders, warm-up leads and event ambassadors.
• Promote participation through effective communication, including notices, assemblies, newsletters and social media updates that showcase the choir’s work.
• Create a safe, supportive and joyful environment, ensuring every student feels valued, motivated and empowered to explore and develop their musical potential
