We are recruiting Health Care Assistants to deliver community-based domiciliary care services within Milnthorpe and surrounding South Lakeland areas.

Purpose of the Role

To provide high-quality, person-centred domiciliary care to adults within their own homes in accordance with individual Care Plans, Risk Assessments, and Local Authority commissioned care packages.

The role supports individuals to maintain independence, dignity, safety, and wellbeing while promoting choice, control, and inclusion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Personal Care and Daily Living Support

Assist with washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
Provide continence support, including catheter and stoma care (where trained)
Support safe moving and handling in line with risk assessments
Assist with medication administration in accordance with company policy and training
Support nutrition, hydration, and meal preparation

2. Specialist and Complex Support (where required and trained)

Dementia care support
Palliative and end-of-life care
Supporting individuals with physical disabilities
Supporting individuals with learning disabilities
Managing behaviours that challenge in a safe and person-centred manner

3. Safeguarding and Compliance

Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns immediately
Work in line with the Care Act 2014 and local safeguarding procedures
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care delivered
Follow infection prevention and control procedures
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with GDPR

4. Professional Conduct

Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
Maintain professional boundaries at all times
Work collaboratively with families, social workers, district nurses, and other professionals
Participate in supervision, appraisal, and mandatory training

Working Environment

This role involves lone working within service users’ homes across Milnthorpe and surrounding rural areas of South Lakeland.

Due to the rural geography of Cumbria, travel between service users may be required. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.

Pay and Conditions

Hourly Rate: £13.45 per hour
Pension contribution in line with statutory requirements

Person Specification

Essential:

Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Ability to work in accordance with care plans and risk assessments
Good communication skills
Commitment to safeguarding and person-centred care

Desirable:

Previous experience in Health and Social Care
NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care
Driving licence and access to vehicle
