Location: NorthLink Ferries, Lerwick ZE1 0PR Salary: £14.10 per hour plus excellent benefits Schedule: Fixed term contract until October, working 4 hours per day (flexible start time between 7.30am – 10am), variable shift patterns available offering flexible hours (includes weekends)

As a Cleaning Operative in our NorthLink Ferries team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments across our vessels, terminal buildings, and port facilities. Your work helps create a positive experience for everyone who travels with us.

What you’ll do as a Cleaning Operative
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Thoroughly clean and sanitise guest cabins, including making beds, changing linens, vacuuming, dusting, and replenishing amenities.
- Clean and maintain public areas such as corridors, lounges, toilets, stairways, terminal buildings, and office areas.
- Support laundry duties when required, including sorting bedding and towels.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and guest amenities, reporting low stock levels when needed.
- Follow all company policies relating to cleanliness, hygiene, and safety, using cleaning chemicals responsibly.
- Provide friendly and courteous service to passengers, maintaining a professional appearance.
- Work effectively with colleagues to complete tasks efficiently and support wider team goals.

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
- Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience, ideally in a hotel or similar environment.
- The ability to work in a fast paced setting with strong attention to detail.
- A positive work ethic and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to follow instructions and adhere to company standards.
