Summary

Purpose of the Job The dietitian role provides specialist nutrition and dietetic expertise to support catering services at chesterfield royal hospital and across the wider health and care business the postholder ensures food and hydration provision meets current nutrition standards best practice and regulatory requirements the role acts as a strategic link between Sodexo and trust clinical teams on all matters relating to food hydration and nutrition and delivers diet and education training to Sodexo staff Context and Main Issues The role operates within a highly regulated healthcare environment where services must comply with national nutrition hydration and food standards this includes meeting expectations from regulatory and professional bodies and applying texture modified diet frameworks the postholder must balance clinical requirements operational delivery and contractual standards while working closely with trust dietitians and other clinical stakeholders there is a strong focus on embedding Sodexo Healthwise principles into healthcare services and responding to high expectations around quality safety and patient experience Main Assignments The postholder provides in house nutrition and dietetic advice to Sodexo and the trust drawing on current research publications and good practice they maintain professional competence through continuous professional development and active awareness of clinical and food service nutrition trends the role involves interpreting national standards and translating them into practical nutritional targets and diet coding criteria to support compliance. Responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating dietetic standards within contracts collaborating with the trust on nutritional care hydration and dementia initiatives and supporting other nutrition focused patient care priorities the role contributes to product and menu development identifies gaps in existing ranges and collaborates with external dietetic partners where required. The postholder creates menus and provides nutritional analysis and allergen information for specific patient groups supports menu and range reviews and produces customer facing nutrition information they work closely with technical teams to ensure nutritional data accuracy seek customer feedback attend nutrition steering groups and continuously improve access to nutrition information training and education for Sodexo and trust staff. Accountabilities The role is accountable for improving nutritional standards for patients maintaining effective relationships with trust and Sodexo stakeholders and ensuring compliance with food and drink legislation standards and guidelines success is measured through improved patient experience satisfaction outcomes reduced complaints improved uptake of meals and reduced food waste supported by robust nutrition led product and menu standards. Person Specification The role requires a UK registered dietitian with evidence of ongoing professional development and membership of relevant professional groups the postholder must have relevant dietetic experience including experience within the NHS and exposure to food service or food manufacturing environments experience of menu development for cook chill and cook freeze systems is required alongside sound food safety knowledge. The postholder must demonstrate high levels of confidence and expertise in nutrition and dietetics competence in nutritional analysis software strong communication presentation and interpersonal skills excellent organisation time management and written English skills the role requires flexibility self-motivation the ability to work independently and as part of a team and the capacity to respond effectively to changing priorities.
