Summary

We have the capability to deliver major surfacing and public realm infrastructure projects. Our specialist in-house traffic management division provides expert advice and support across the industry, whilst assisting with our own, in-house contracts.

We have a great opportunity for a Supply Chain & Procurement Manager, based at our Hoddesdon office with travel across the South East and South West, to enhance and streamline procedures that strengthen the control and effectiveness of our procurement and supply chain function in line with VolkerHighways business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reduce material and subcontract costs through effective sourcing and negotiation.
  • Implement supplier relationship management, performance measurement and supply chain development.
  • Strengthen service level agreements with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Deliver project procurement strategies and maintain project procurement schedules.
  • Manage tenders, including enquiry documents, reviews and obtaining timely quotations.
  • Implement procedures, supply agreements and ensure compliance with group supply chain strategy.
  • Oversee the provision of materials and services to meet programme deadlines.
  • Raise purchase orders with correct technical and commercial requirements.
  • Contribute to Group Category Agreement Teams.
  • Ensure procurement activities follow approved business processes and procedures.
  • Support and develop junior team members.
  • Monitor and report project costs against budgets and tender allowances.
  • Promote company vision, values and participate in departmental forums.
  • Manage the supply chain and drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Drive best‑value procurement to support profitability targets.

About you

  • A motivated, mature and enthusiastic professional with strong self‑motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to support and develop team members.
  • Broad procurement and supply chain experience with strong commercial awareness.
  • Knowledgeable about the construction market and the impact of wider economic factors.
  • CIPS qualification is desirable.
