Summary

Maintenance Operative - Student Accommodation (Oxford)

A leading provider of student accommodation is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join the team at a modern property in Oxford. This is a full‑time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm.

About the Role

You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance across the property, ensuring all statutory compliance requirements are met. You'll take responsibility for maintaining the building to a high standard, reporting issues promptly, and ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

The role requires someone confident working independently, able to liaise with contractors and suppliers, and committed to delivering an excellent resident experience through high‑quality maintenance support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and safety standards.
  • Maintain the overall condition, repair, and presentation of the property.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Provide timely updates on outstanding actions and completed works.
  • Prioritise workload and work proactively with minimal supervision.

Person Specification

  • Experience in property maintenance or a qualified trade background, with the ability to work across multiple disciplines.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices (e.g., COSHH, manual handling, working at height).
  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines independently.
  • Proactive, solutions‑focused approach to resolving issues.
  • Flexible and team‑oriented attitude.
