This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to develop and enhance our catering services. You’ll help prepare and serve meals across both patient and retail operations, operate catering equipment such as coffee machines and tills, and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and food hygiene. With flexible shifts across mornings, lunchtimes, and evenings, this role offers variety, teamwork, and the chance to make a meaningful difference every day.

As a Catering Assistant, you will support the delivery of high‑quality catering services across the hospital. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with basic food preparation, plating meals, and supporting cooking tasks.
• Preparing service areas and ensuring meals are presented to a high standard.
• Providing friendly, professional customer service in retail outlets.

• Monitoring stock levels, rotating supplies (FIFO), and helping minimise food waste.
• Safely operating kitchen and retail equipment, including coffee machines and tills.
• Handling cash and card transactions accurately.
• Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness in kitchens and service areas.
• Carrying out mechanical dishwashing of crockery, cutlery, and utensils.
• Following food safety, allergen, and hygiene procedures at all times.
• Transporting meal trolleys to and from wards safely and efficiently.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the catering team.
• Supporting both front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house operations as required.
• Communicating effectively with patients, staff, and team members.
• Adapting to a variety of tasks and shift patterns, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
• Contributing to a positive, supportive team culture
