About the team:

The Communications and Marketing team are a creative, collaborative and strategically driven group responsible for shaping how SRUC communicates with the world. Our work supports the organisation’s mission to deliver world‑class research, education and consultancy across the rural, environmental and agricultural sectors. As a team, we bring together expertise in brand management, digital communications, press and media relations, internal engagement, content design, social media, marketing strategy and student recruitment marketing.

About the opportunity:

The Events Officer will support the delivery of SRUC’s annual events plan by working closely with the Events team and Chief Communications Officer to coordinate a strategically balanced programme of activities across Scotland. This includes designing and delivering events – including the Royal Highland Show and graduation – that uphold SRUC’s brand, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity, and leading on the build, set‑up, operation and dismantling of event materials (including audio‑visual equipment) across a wide range of indoor and outdoor locations.

The role involves collaborating with colleagues across Communications to promote institutional priorities, supplying content for the website and marketing materials, and providing high‑quality onsite leadership on event days.

The Events Officer will also manage;

  • Online events
  • Registration systems,
  • Prepare risk assessments and health and safety documentation,
  • Administrative tasks such as booking venues, organising equipment, maintaining event records and ensuring all materials are properly stored and uploaded.

    Minimum qualifications and experience:

    The successful candidate will be educated to SCQF Level 6, with English and Maths at National 5/GCSE level, and will bring relevant practical experience along with a proven track record in delivering operational events. The role requires confidence in driving, as well as experience setting up and hosting online events across platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Strong organisational skills, practical capability in event set‑up, and the ability to work safely and effectively in varied environments are essential.
