Summary

Safeguarding and Welfare Officer

Location: Remote with occasional travel

Hours: Part-time - 24 hours a week over 5 days.

Salary: From £30,000 pro rata + Excellent Benefits + Tax-free bonus

Report into: Inclusion and Quality Improvement Manager

We are looking for a dedicated Safeguarding and Welfare Officer to join The Opportunity Provider (TOP) and play a vital role in ensuring the safety and welfare of our learners. You will help us create a secure, supportive environment where every apprentice can thrive.

What You’ll Be Doing


Manage and respond to safeguarding and welfare concerns, ensuring referrals are made promptly to external agencies, where appropriate.
Maintain effective systems for recognising, recording and acting upon safeguarding concerns.
Implement appropriate information‑sharing systems and partnership working with external agencies.
Ensure all staff, including delivery partners and employers where relevant, understand their safeguarding responsibilities.
Liaise with internal colleagues to ensure risks are mitigated and concerns are managed effectively.
Audit, monitor and support the welfare of learners under 25, including children and NEETs, ensuring appropriate engagement with parents, carers, and guardians where required.
Share safeguarding and welfare information with key stakeholders to promote best practice, ensure teams remain informed, and embed safeguarding into apprenticeship delivery.
Support the design and implementation of safeguarding and Prevent training for internal teams.
Provide quarterly updates to apprentices, parents / guardians and employers on safeguarding, prevent and british value themes to keep them informed.
Maintain and update safeguarding, Prevent, and welfare policies and internal guidance to ensure compliance with legislation (this includes the Prevent Action Plan).
Monitor and manage the Single Central Register.
Produce Quarterly Board reports and annual safeguarding reviews.


What You’ll Bring

We’re seeking a confident and professional individual with the following skills and experience:


In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Prevent.
Completion of recognised Designated Safeguarding Officer training at Level 3.
Strong ability to assess and evaluate safeguarding risks, identifying threats and taking appropriate action.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and complex information.
Experience collaborating with internal teams, external agencies, and senior leaders to create a safe and supportive environment.
A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple priorities.
Emotional intelligence, empathy, and the ability to build trust with learners, staff, and external partners.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying up to date with safeguarding and Prevent legislation.
