The IT Contract Lead role is based in the exciting and evolving Information Technology Services (ITS) directorate. This is a fast paced and dynamic part of the organisation with great training and development opportunities to enhance your career.

This role provides an opportunity to join the IT Supplier Management Team and is central to the relationship between an individual business area and the commercial function. You will proactively engage with the business directly, use your strong technical and influencing skills and develop a sound understanding of the ITS business area. You will provide advice, challenge, and scrutiny to senior colleagues to ensure contracts are well defined, managed and monitored.

The IT Contract Lead is responsible for the provision of complex contracts and the management and effective running of a team of contract owners that each have their own contract portfolio.

You will work with numerous stakeholders across the Agency as well as externally, providing the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of areas and build diverse relationships. The role allows you to work autonomously and make effective decisions, managing escalations.

Responsibilities

  • To lead a team of Contract Owners (CO) responsible for tracking, managing and providing administrative support for DVLA third Party IT Supplier contracts (total contracts value of £120m).
  • To lead and handle effective communications between owned business area, DSCC Finance, Suppliers and internal /external stakeholders to ensure all relevant parties have opportunities to discuss contract activity in an open and transparent environment.
  • To act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME)/Process Owner and provide advice on IT contracts, ensuring ITS remains commercially compliant, conforms to the necessary governance approval and processes and ensures that the performance and deliverables of the suppliers are adding value.
  • To be responsible for managing IT contract renewals; proactively engaging with Commercial Advisors, contract owners and technical leads to ensure requirements are captured and approvals sought in sufficient time to meet deadlines.

Great line management is important to us as an organisation, and we will equip and support line managers to develop the skills they need. We aim to empower line managers to create teams where people can flourish and deliver excellent outcomes for the public.
