Are you someone who enjoys solving operational challenges, building strong relationships, and helping teams work more efficiently? We’re looking for a Fleet Business Partner to provide strategic guidance on fleet usage, compliance, safety, and operational behaviour across Royal Mail’s red fleet. This role helps ensure we use our fleet in the most efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective way.
About the Role
You will work with operational leaders to improve driver culture, optimise fleet size and usage, support compliance, and ensure strong governance. You’ll also help teams use fleet systems and data effectively, highlight risks or opportunities, and support environmental initiatives such as ULEZ and CAZ requirements. Your role is a key link between Fleet and operational teams, ensuring clear communication, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)
- Deploy strategies to ensure the red fleet is correctly sized and aligned to operational needs, managing fleet demand, supply, and cost.
- Support improvements in driver behaviour and safety through coaching, field visits, and operational engagement.
- Use telemetry and management information to help improve fleet utilisation, compliance, emissions, and cost efficiency.
- Lead and support environmental compliance initiatives (e.g., ULEZ, CAZ, DVS) to reduce risk and cost.
- Identify and highlight poor and outstanding vehicle standards, supporting local teams with improvement plans.
- Build strong relationships with senior operational stakeholders and provide insight to improve fleet performance and driver behaviour measures.
- Promote and embed the fleet customer relationship model and communication strategy.
- Coach stakeholders on using fleet systems, self‑service tools, and management information to support better decision‑making.
Because this role requires you to travel, Royal Mail will make a monthly £375 contribution to the rental payments for your chosen Car.

What You’ll Bring
- Experience in fleet operations or a related industry.
- Strong coaching, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyse data and translate insights into clear actions.
- Understanding of fleet compliance, vehicle standards, and road transport legislation.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and support behaviour change.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (desirable).
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) holder (desirable).
