Location: Runnymede Civic Centre, Station Road, Addlestone, Surrey, KT15 2AH
Hours: 37 per week
Start Date: 04 March 2026
Duration: Initially for a 6 month contract (likely to be extended)

About the Client
Runnymede Borough Council’s Housing Services team is committed to providing safe, clean and well‑maintained estates for residents across the borough. The Tenancy Services division plays a key role in ensuring high standards of caretaking, estate management and customer service within council housing areas.

The Role
As a Mobile Estate Warden, you will deliver a proactive caretaking and estate support service across council housing estates. You will ensure communal areas remain clean, safe and well‑maintained, support residents on site, and assist with emergency or out‑of‑hours issues. This role is mobile and requires regular travel between estates.

Key Responsibilities
Complete cleaning of communal areas to a high standard, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and interior window cleaning

Undertake litter picking and maintain cleanliness across housing blocks and estates

Carry out basic grounds maintenance tasks such as weeding and leaf clearance

Check car parks and garage compounds for issues including abandoned vehicles and fly‑tipping

Monitor communal utility meters and complete inspection checklists

Undertake health and safety risk assessments in communal areas

Report repairs, compliance issues and safety concerns to relevant teams

Provide access to contractors and support estate inspections

Clean and unblock bin chutes and manage bin rotation for waste and recycling collections

Undertake low‑level working at height and manual handling tasks

Act as first point of contact for residents on estates, escalating concerns appropriately

Support resident events and escalate safeguarding concerns where required

Participate in a three‑weekly out‑of‑hours rota, including evenings and weekends

Attend emergency call‑outs such as fire alarms, lift entrapments and urgent communal issues

Contribute to service improvements and support the council’s emergency response when needed

Candidate Requirements
Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment

Previous cleaning or caretaking experience

Understanding of health & safety, including COSHH

Experience working with the public and vulnerable individuals

Strong verbal communication skills

Well‑organised with good attention to detail

Able to undertake manual handling tasks

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and safeguarding

Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle (role requires driving a council vehicle)

Ability to work out of hours as part of the rota
