Join Serco’s Finance Transformation and help build the engine of growth
Serco is transforming Finance to support our future growth, and we’re creating a UK-led Global Finance Services Hub at the heart of the organisation. This hub will act as a true engine of growth
- forward-facing, innovative and commercially focused
- enabling Serco to take on more contracts and operate with greater efficiency, resilience and insight.
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-profile Finance transformation programme and play a key role in shaping how Finance operates across Serco’s global business, including UK & Europe, the Middle East and ASPAC. With limited standardisation in place today, you won’t just be part of the transformation
- you’ll be driving it.
The role
As a Finance Project Manager, you’ll sit within the Global Finance Services (GFS) Hub and lead the end-to-end delivery of Finance change initiatives across Serco’s global operations.
This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role for someone who understands Finance fundamentals but is motivated by projects, systems and change rather than month-end close. You’ll lead both system-led and non-system Finance initiatives, spanning Finance transformation, process optimisation, automation, data quality improvement and control remediation, as well as new contract mobilisation.
You’ll act as a central point of coordination, working closely with Finance teams, IT/DDaT, Global Process Owners, BPO providers and external partners, ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed objectives, governance and control standards
- and successfully transitioned into Business-as-Usual.
There are no direct reports, so strong stakeholder management, influencing and partnering skills are critical.
As part of this you’ll:
Project leadership & delivery
· Lead Finance projects end-to-end, from requirements and build through to deployment, stabilisation and BAU handover
· Own Finance requirements across process, system, data and controls
· Manage plans, risks, dependencies and delivery across multiple workstreams and partners
Finance systems & process change
· Deliver system-enabled Finance change, including ERP upgrades and automation
· Partner closely with IT/DDaT on design, testing, cutover and go-live
· Ensure Finance readiness for new systems, upgrades and tools
Process optimisation, controls & automation
· Lead process improvement, data quality and control remediation initiatives
· Get hands-on to resolve broken processes and embed sustainable fixes
· Identify and deliver automation opportunities that reduce manual effort and strengthen controls
Stakeholder engagement & governance
· Build strong, trusted relationships across Finance, IT and delivery partners
· Provide clear, timely communication on progress, risks and decisions
· Ensure all Finance change aligns with governance, audit and control standards
What you’ll need to do the role:
You’ll be someone who:
· Has a strong Finance foundation and understands core processes (R2R, O2C, P2P, FP&A)
· Has proven experience delivering Finance projects and change end-to-end
· Enjoys partnering with stakeholders and designing solutions that work for users
· Thrives in a changing environment and has a growth mindset
· Is happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in
· Is confident managing senior stakeholders with no line-management authority
Essential experience & skills
· End-to-end Finance project delivery experience
· Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional partnering skills
· Experience with Finance systems and process change
· Understanding of Finance controls, governance and risk
· Experience working with IT & BPO providers and external vendors
· Ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed organisation
Systems experience (desirable):
· SAP (essential), with exposure to tools such as Cadency, Concur, BPC, APO or similar
· Experience with ERP, automation or digital Finance transformation programmes
Qualifications (desirable):
· PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, Prosci or similar
