Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced Java Developer (contract) to join our client's team and support the delivery of key projects. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on development experience and be confident working within modern frameworks, cloud environments, and agile delivery teams.
Your new role
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Java‑based applications
- Build and consume RESTful APIs
- Work with Spring Framework to deliver secure, scalable services
- Implement front‑end components using Thymeleaf and JSON data structures
- Contribute to application design following GDS themes and design principles
- Support microservices‑based architecture and best practices
- Manage builds, releases, and CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps
- Implement and troubleshoot cookie/session management
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an agile environment
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong commercial experience with Java
- Solid background in Spring Framework
- Experience with JSON, Thymeleaf, and template‑based front‑end development
- Proven ability to design and develop RESTful APIs
- Hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD, pipelines, version control)
- Knowledge of GDS design principles (must have)
- Understanding of microservices architecture
- Strong grasp of session and cookie management within web applications
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently
