Summary
Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for full details of responsibilities The post holder will demonstrate highly specialist knowledge and clinical skills in SEMH and trauma across the 0-19 age range. To be highly proficient in the assessment, identification, treatment and management of the specialist health and communication needs of Children with SEMH needs and other complex conditions. This may include assessment of complex conditions and presentations such as developmental trauma, autism, ADHD as well as behaviour which challenges. To use highly specialist observation skills to assess service user and care staff interaction (including verbal, non-verbal communication etc) encouraging adaptive strategies to maximise effective communication being aware of cultural or linguistic differences. To modify clinical intervention based on outcomes and assessment findings. To make onward referral as appropriate. To enable the implementation, adaptation and use of alternative and augmentative communication across a variety of communication environments. Working together with service users and their supports. To identify the need for, and be involved in, development and delivery of training packages to enhance the communication and other skills of setting and support staff, as well as parents and carers and others working with children with SEMH needs and other communication difficulties. To work collaboratively with service users, their support staff, carers and families as appropriate, to make decisions relevant to the service users individual needs. To recognise the impact of a persons communication needs and develop clear care plans to address these needs. To have the ability to communicate sensitive and/or information about CYP with complex condition specific information to carers, teachers, teaching assistants and other professionals as required.
