Summary

Sales / Business Development Lead - Plumbing Supplies - Keighley

Salary circa 38k to 45k - negotiable

Monday to Friday 730am to 5pm - occasional Saturday mornings as required

Full time permanent role

SCOPE:

Grow sales by developing existing customers and converting new ones.
Maintain regular contact with key trade accounts and re‑engage lapsed customers.
Convert walk‑ins into repeat buyers and reach out to local installers not yet using the branch.
Lead the daily counter operation and ensure a consistently high customer experience.
Set clear priorities for the sales team and keep service levels high.
Resolve day‑to‑day issues quickly before they escalate.
Coordinate with the warehouse to keep orders, stock, and deliveries flowing smoothly.
Allocate tasks between sales and warehouse staff to avoid bottlenecks.
Step onto the counter when needed to support busy periods.
Become the main commercial driver of the branch, growing sales and customer loyalty.
Take the lead on key customer relationships and understand their ongoing job needs.
Bring more structure and consistency to daily operations and service levels.
Act as the first point of contact for routine decisions, reducing reliance on the owner.
Identify new opportunities and improvements that help the branch grow over time.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE:

Experience in a plumbers’ merchant, builders’ merchant, electrical wholesaler, or similar trade counter environment OR strong senior retail/operational experience in a fast‑paced setting.
Comfortable leading a counter team, setting daily priorities, and solving problems without needing a formal manager title.
Commercial mindset with proven ability to grow sales, build customer relationships, and spot new opportunities.
Strong communicator who can engage installers, convert walk‑ins, and proactively follow up with customers.
Organised, methodical, and calm under pressure — able to keep the branch moving smoothly.
Willing to learn plumbing & heating products quickly if not already experienced.
