Summary

Job Description:

A Social Care Deputy Manager is second-in-command to the Registered Manager, responsible for ensuring high standards of person-centred care and regulatory compliance. This role involves balancing “on the floor” leadership with office-based administrative and management tasks. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Core Responsibilities

· Team Leadership: Managing, supervising, and coaching staff teams, including conducting appraisals, identifying training needs, and supporting recruitment and development.

· Operational Support: Assisting the Registered Manager in day-to-day operations, including rota planning and staff coordination. Deputising in the Registered Manager’s absence and ensuring service continuity and effective decision-making.

· Quality & Compliance: Ensuring the service meets standards set by regulatory bodies such as the CQC. Completing audits, monitoring care documentation, implementing improvements, and maintaining accurate records in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.

· Care Planning: Overseeing person-centred care assessments, risk assessments, and regular reviews to meet service users’ physical and emotional needs. Building and maintaining professional relationships with clients and families.

· Safeguarding: Acting as a first responder for safeguarding concerns, investigating incidents appropriately, and ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with safeguarding procedures. Ensuring practice aligns with relevant legislation and NICE guidance.

· Deputising: Acting as the lead manager in the Registered Manager’s absence, managing operational matters and supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

Required Skills & Experience

- Qualifications: NVQ/RQF Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care.

- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a deputy manager role within a similar social care setting.

- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory standards, including CQC requirements, safeguarding frameworks, and NICE guidance.

- Skills: Excellent communication and leadership skills, strong IT skills for managing rotas and care records, attention to detail in audit and compliance processes, and the ability to make sound operational decisions.

Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-3pm (on call on a rota system including occasional weekends)
