Summary

History of Service

KYC has been delivering support to young carers across Kirklees since 2016 and so is a well-established service. The service provides assessed support to young carers and their families using a whole family, outcomes-based approach. We require a Project Worker to carry a case load providing assessed support to young carers and their families. The role will require high standards of case-file recording, adherence to clear casework processes and timescales, group work co-ordination and delivery, the maintaining of a range of professional relationships across Children's and Adult's services as well as other tasks commensurate with the role.

Objectives of Service

Kirklees Young Carer's Service provides assessed support to young carers and their families in Kirklees, to reduce inappropriate caring roles, improve emotional, social and educational outcomes, reduce the negative impact of caring and increase family resilience. The service also works to raise awareness in schools across the authority and support them in identifying young carers within their own settings.

Job expectations

We are looking for a highly motivated person to join a small team to undertake all aspects of the young carer practitioner role. This will involve assessing the needs of young carers and their families, planning and delivering 1:1 support to young carers and fully involving them in this process. You will be expected to contribute to Early Help or statutory multi-agency support plans and adopt a ‘whole family' approach, liaising with external agencies as necessary.

You will also be expected to co-facilitate targeted group sessions to promote resilience and emotional wellbeing and support holiday activities and other events as required.
