Summary
This position is at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead and will provide an excellent introduction to Haematology. The posts are based in the Haematology department and post holders will participate in the 1 in 9 on call rota with CMT colleagues. This exciting opportunity provides experience in Haematology (including laboratory aspects), Haemophilia, Thrombosis and Medical Education. These posts would be ideally suited to post-foundation doctors (either prior to or after core medical training) considering a career in Haematology, Oncology or Pathology.
Post holders have the same wide range of educational and training opportunities as colleagues on the training rotation, including protected time for outpatient clinics. Post holders are provided with educational supervision, e-portfolio and study leave equivalent to those on training rotations (including a study leave budget for educationally approved training courses).
Start date would be from May 2026.
These posts provide an excellent introductory training in Haematology. Clinical Fellows work closely with ST3 colleagues and are responsible for day care of non-elective acute admission patients with malignant diagnosis as well as elective admissions for immunotherapy. They also support the laboratory teams in the diagnosis and review of patients with thrombosis and bleeding problems. There are a wide range of research, audit and quality improvement projects ongoing in the department which fellows are encouraged to be involved in.
A detailed orientation to the department and the various components of the position is given on the first day of service. In summary, the job includes:
Inpatient Haematology: With ST3 colleagues responsible for day care of non-elective acute admission patients with malignant diagnosis as well as elective admissions for immunotherapy.
Day unit: Supporting the day unit team with reviews and acute admissions.
Lab and Haemophilia: Support the lab teams in diagnosis and review of patients with thrombosis and bleeding problems.
