Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Assistant Officer to work within the Payroll and Pensions Department
You will work within a team of Payroll and Pensions professionals providing a comprehensive Payroll and Pensions service.
Assist with the provision of a responsive, courteous and professional Payroll service ensuring the Department maintains its high level of accuracy and service.
Have substantial experience in an NHS Payroll Office in a similar capacity, and have extensive experience of using the ESR system.
A knowledge of and ability to apply both National and Local Terms and Conditions in the calculation of remuneration.
Interpret and process prime documentation and analyse the outcome in line with set procedures and identify any errors. To resolve faults that have been highlighted as a result of this process.
Be able to provide and receive complex and sensitive information orally, in writing and electronically to and from all employees, external agencies and members of the Payroll Department.
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise your own workload to ensure accurate production of Payroll related work.
To assist in the production and analysis of Payroll data using ESR and Excel Spreadsheets.

You will be responsible for the accurate completion of an allocated section of Payroll. This covers all aspects of the Payroll function, including the calculation of remuneration in line with relative Terms and Conditions, whilst adhering to statutory regulations in respect of PAYE, National Insurance, SSP and SMP etc., the Trusts Standing Financial Instructions and Payroll Procedures.
Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
