An exciting opportunity has opened for skilled manufacturing professionals to help build the aircraft of the future — a solar-powered, stratospheric platform capable of flying continuously for months at a time. Operating at 20km above Earth, this pioneering technology delivers high-resolution Earth observation, direct-to-device connectivity, and more — creating an entirely new aerospace domain known as Stratospace.

The Role

You will be responsible for the manufacture, assembly, and testing of advanced composite aircraft structures, ensuring delivery is achieved on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture and assemble aircraft composite structures, including sub-assemblies and primary assemblies
• Perform dimensional verification using measuring equipment and calibrated jigs
• Conduct post-adhesive bonding quality checks
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Support health, safety, and operational standards, including mentoring and training colleagues

What You’ll Need

• Extensive hands-on experience working with composite structures
• Strong manual skills with the ability to trim, form, and shape composite parts
• Knowledge of adhesive bonding, dimensional verification, and ESD-sensitive environments
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow process instructions
• Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure

Qualifications

• Aerospace or Engineering full apprenticeship
NVQ Level 3 in Aerospace, Avionics, or related engineering discipline

Preferred Experience

• Background in aerospace, space, or other highly regulated industries
• Understanding of Lean / Six Sigma principles, pulse-line manufacturing, and IOSHH standards
