Summary


An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our ward based team.

Working closely with our clinical pharmacists and other healthcare professionals the successful candidate will help provide a quality medicines management service to wards across the Trust, supporting medicines optimisation.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Main duties will include:

* Medicines reconciliation
* Assessing the suitability of patients’ own drugs for use,
* Ordering named patient medication
* Counselling patients about their medicines
* Co-ordinating supply of discharge medicines
* Supporting audit and quality improvement initiatives.

The post holder will be required to help support the training and staff development of a range of staff including pre-registration pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists. There will be regular dispensary slots which will include final accuracy checking.

There is a requirement to work across the organisation, with a base at Highbury Hospital, Lings Bar Hospital, Blossomwood or Sherwood Oaks (to be discussed at interview). Specialities covered will include AMH, MHSOP, CAMHS and physical healthcare. A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is therefore required; however reasonable adjustments will be made for individuals as necessary in line with the Equality Act 2010.

You should have previously worked in a hospital pharmacy with experience in a mental health setting desirable but not essential.
