Summary
As part of an EPSRC-funded project which is close to completion, there is an opportunity for a researcher to join the team looking at adaptive estimation for a 4-month period. In particular, this researcher will look at the design and assessment of adaptive control systems for under water autonomous vehicles, with an emphasis on practical deployment.
The successful applicant should have, or be expecting to have, a PhD in control systems engineering or a closely related field, ideally in adaptive control, robust control or similar; or equivalent industrial experience. Since the work is concentrated on autonomous underwater systems, the candidate should also have experience in the control of such systems, especially from a practical perspective.
You will be working closely with Dr Matthew Turner and Dr. Andrea Lecchini-Visintini at the University of Southampton, UK and potentially with other colleagues associated with the project.
The post will be full time for 4 months, starting from 1st April 2024 or soon after. The post will be based on the Highfield Campus in the School of Electronics and Computer Science.
