Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with an extremely supportive and collaborative SEN primary school in Northwich that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint a number of experienced and motivated teaching assistants for long-term full-time temporary contracts, with permanent contracts being considered for the right individuals.
This school has a full primary cohort and supports pupils with a myriad of complex and profound needs including SLD, ASD, SEMH and more.
You will be joining an extremely experienced and supportive team of educational professionals, with each class consisting of the class teacher and at least 3 teaching assistants. You will offer comprehensive 1:1 support to each pupil within your class (classes consisting of 3 – 7 pupils), ensuring that their needs are not only met, but are also at the heart of all operations. Your duties will vary dependent on the class you are in, but they will typically consist of:
• Use of PECs, Makaton and SALT to support speech and language development
• Implementation of positive behaviour strategies including traffic light systems, utilisation of sensory rooms, fidget & sensory toys, and positive reinforcement
• Working in collaboration with external professionals including speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, and occupational psychologists
• Supporting with personal/intimate care
• Supporting during break and lunch times
What you’ll need to succeed
To be considered in your application you must have full “Right to Work” in the UK, be willing to undergo full DBS screening, and:
• Experience supporting children with profound needs within a classroom or residential setting
• Be able to commit to a full-time long-term contract
• Experience implementing an array of behaviour strategies
• Comfortable supporting personal/intimate care
