Job Description
Critical Business Recovery is a strategic pillar in Lloyds Banking Group's operational resilience. The infrastructure you will help shape and support enables the organisation to maintain continuity and respond swiftly to unexpected disruptions, directly contributing to the bank's ability to serve millions of customers securely and reliably, even in times of crisis.
Role Responsibilities
As an Engineer, you will take on a hands-on technical support role. Your daily activities will include:
- Supporting and enhancing infrastructure: Overseeing the ongoing support and technical development of the safeguarding and recovery platform to ensure operational excellence and future readiness.
- Stakeholder communication: Translating complex technical incidents and concepts into clear, non-technical language for business leaders and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across the organisation.
- Incident, Problem & Change Management: Leading the response to operational incidents, representing the team in "WAR room" activities, driving root cause analysis, and accelerating time to recovery for business-critical services.
- Partner engagement: Liaising with third-party vendors and partners to facilitate project delivery and to incorporate enhancements into the technical roadmap for the next iterations of the infrastructure.
- Process improvement: Streamlining workflows, implementing automation solutions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and service quality.
- Agile operations: Embracing Agile methodologies, utilising tools such as JIRA and Jira Align to plan, track, and deliver team objectives.
- Technical leadership: Acting as a primary technical point of contact, guiding the evolution of the platform, and ensuring it meets current and future needs.
- Mentorship: Supporting, mentoring, and motivating junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment that enables learning, growth and knowledge sharing.
Ideal Skills and Experience
To thrive in this role, you will bring a robust background in technical infrastructure, ideally with hands-on experience in backup and recovery disciplines. Your technical toolkit will include, but is not limited to:
- Windows and RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) system and domain administration
- Active Directory, DNS, and Checkpoint Firewalls
- Broadcom VCF, vSphere, Vmware and VSAN
- Deep familiarity with Dell products such as Data Domain, switches, PowerStore, and PowerEdge servers
- Knowledge of malware protection products, CyberArk, Spectrum Protect, and the Dell Protection Suite
- Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding, recovery, and malware recovery concepts
Experience within the financial services sector or a regulated environment is considered beneficial, given the critical and regulated nature of the bank's operations.
