Summary
1. Strategic Leadership of AI in Regional Services
- Lead a regional AI roadmap aligned to key priorities (EHCPs, annual reviews, dashboards, decision‑making standards, consistency of practice).
- Provide strategic advice on AI readiness, opportunity, risk and governance.
- Ensure all AI activity aligns with statutory duties and existing regional improvement plans.
2. Responsible AI Governance
- Establish and run a responsible AI approval and oversight process, including:
- Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- UK GDPR compliance
- Human‑in‑the‑loop safeguards
- A regional AI risk and assurance log
- Work with ICT, IG, legal and data protection colleagues to ensure compliant implementation.
3. Improving EHCP Quality and Timeliness via AI
- Lead pilots and scaling of AI‑supported:
- first‑draft EHCP section summaries
- improved outcome and provision wording
- quality assurance prompts
- identification of missing or contradictory information
- Reduce drafting time while improving consistency and statutory defensibility.
4. Enhancing Annual Reviews Through AI and Data
- Introduce AI‑enabled tools to:
- summarise annual review documents
- highlight unmet need or repeated themes
- support timely review‑to‑amendment processes
- Improve the overall completion rates and impact of annual review activity.
5. Strengthening Decision‑Making and Panel Consistency
- Support regional use of standards and thresholds as decision support tools.
- Implement AI‑assisted case summaries that map evidence to statutory criteria.
- Ensure AI never replaces professional decision making or panel accountability.
6. Improving Dashboard Use and Data Maturity
- Review the quality, relevance and use of dashboards (Power BI, datasets).
- Reduce data duplication and increase consistency across regional metrics.
- Support teams to interpret dashboards effectively for operational and strategic planning.
7. Workforce Training and Culture Building
- Deliver training and guidance for teams on:
- safe use of AI in Microsoft 365 (Word, Teams, SharePoint)
- interpreting AI‑supported dashboards
- understanding AI limitations and risks
- Promote a culture of confidence, curiosity and responsible experimentation.
8. Partnership Working and System Leadership
- Build strong relationships across:
- Integrated Care Boards and health providers
- Schools, FE and post‑16 providers
- Parent carer forums and young people
- National delivery partner teams
- Share regional prompts, templates, QA tools and best practice.
9. Programme and Change Management
- Produce briefing papers, reports and updates for senior stakeholders
- Manage regional pilots, monitor progress, and evaluate impact.
- Support multi‑agency working groups and task‑and‑finish groups related to AI and digital improvement.
