The Role
Wimbledon High School is seeking a compassionate and professional Registered Nurse to provide high-quality clinical care and pastoral support to our students across the School.
Working closely with the Lead Nurse, you will assist in the smooth running of the medical room, caring for sick, injured or distressed pupils until further care can be arranged. You will monitor, review and record the health status of all students, conduct school medicals and work with colleagues to identify children with developmental concerns, assessing their needs and referring to specialist services where necessary. Collaborating with parents, carers and health professionals, you will help develop, implement and monitor in-school care plans for pupils with complex health needs and long-term conditions.
In addition to this, you will help devise and implement strategies to ensure that vulnerable pupils and those with particular personal needs are appropriately supported. You will also provide open-access drop-in sessions where pupils can receive personalised guidance and support on issues such as relationships, managing stress and risk-taking behaviours.
About you
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with an appropriate nursing qualification, such as RN (child branch) or RSCN, or a Registered General Nurse with post-qualification experience, ideally in A&E, walk-in clinics or as a Practice Nurse. You will be calm, professional and supportive, with excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of young people and an awareness of current developments in school nursing, primary care and health promotion.
