Are you passionate about food and nutrition? Do you crave a career that allows you to have your weekends back, enjoy most school holidays off, and bid farewell to late nights?
If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in our catering operations at Hayesfield Girls’ School within the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership. This is a dynamic role working across our two main campus kitchens, ensuring our students receive nutritious, high-quality meals every day.
Responsibilities
As an Assistant Chef, you will work closely with our Chef Manager and Lead Cooks to maintain excellence across both school kitchens. Your key responsibilities will include:
Dual-Site Support: Supporting the Chef Manager/Lead Cook in daily operations across Hayesfield’s two kitchen sites.
Proven Expertise: Bringing a minimum of two years of experience at the Assistant Chef level.
Standards & Safety: Demonstrating up-to-date knowledge of nutrition, allergens, and health and safety protocols.
Team Leadership: Supervising and motivating the kitchen team effectively to ensure a positive working environment.
Flexibility: A willingness to travel across local sites within the Partnership when needed (mileage will be paid).
Collaborative Spirit: Bringing enthusiasm and a "can-do" attitude to inspire and collaborate with team members.
There are many advantages to working for us. Included in your actual annual salary is generous annual leave entitlement, access to a local government pension scheme, sick pay scheme, cycle-to-work scheme, free eye tests for VDU users and employee assistance helpline. Support staff in schools can also benefit from a range of national discount schemes available to education professionals such as the Blue Light Card offering savings on shopping, travel, and leisure.
We encourage early applications as we reserve the right to close the vacancy prior to the closing date if we receive sufficient applications for the role.
