What you'll be doing;
- List, package and label hazardous waste streams at customer sites across the Southern UK region
- Assess drums and their contents at customer premises to determine appropriate handling and classification
- Collect wastes from customer sites and ensure safe transportation in 3.5t Luton vans in accordance with road transport and hazardous waste regulations
- Use IT systems to generate transport documents, reference safety data sheets and generate quotes when required
- Pump, decant and re-drum rusty or leaking containers safely
- Sample various waste streams, predominantly hazardous waste, for classification purposes
- Print and complete labels and ensure accurate completion of all documentation to meet customer expectations
- Assess new customer inquiries and provide technical knowledge to customers and colleagues
- Assist with chemist duties in the Hazardous Waste Transfer Station when needed
- Assist with spillage clearance if required
- Maintain adequate stock levels of routine supplies
- Provide basic mentoring to new starters when suitably experienced
- Foster good customer relationships and comply with all customer site rules
What we're looking for;
- Minimum A-Level Chemistry or a degree/HNC in Chemistry or relevant scientific qualification (essential)
- Valid UK driving licence (essential)
- Good interpersonal skills for dealing with customers professionally
- High level of literacy and numeracy for accurate documentation
- Knowledge of environmental legislation (desirable)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem-solving skills with ability to find solutions independently
- Enthusiastic, willing to learn and adaptable
- Flexible with daily working hours as jobs may occasionally finish late
- Compliance-focused mindset with commitment to Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and COSHH regulations
- ADR Licence, Forklift Truck Licence and First Aid qualifications desirable (training provided if not held)
- Mobile role - must be comfortable working at various customer sites across the Southern region
