We are recruiting Environmental Maintenance Assistants to support the delivery of high-quality cleansing and grounds maintenance services across the Borough from 1 April 2026 for a period of up to 6 months, with potential for a week-by-week extension thereafter dependant on operational need.

You will play a key role in helping to maintain clean, safe and attractive public spaces by carrying out a wide range of environmental maintenance duties, working as part of a team and sometimes independently, under the direction of a Team Leader.

As an Environmental Maintenance Assistant, your duties will include:
• Undertaking a full range of grounds maintenance and cleansing activities, including grass cutting, hedge cutting, and general cleansing duties
• Operating vehicles, plant and equipment safely and responsibly
• Ensuring work is carried out to agreed standards of service delivery and customer care
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to help improve the local environment

We are seeking someone who has:
• Experience of grounds maintenance and manual cleansing work
• Experience of using and operating a range of vehicles, plant and equipment
• A basic level of literacy and numeracy
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks logically and meet deadlines
• A full, valid driving licence (essential)
