Summary

Finance Assistant

Location: Wisbech

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £26,227 per annum - 37.5 hours - Flexible with times

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our Finance team. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, and ensuring timely payments, while working closely with internal departments and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, reconciling, and processing supplier invoices and credits.


  • Reviewing and processing sales invoices.


  • Carrying out credit control duties where required.


  • Processing subcontractor valuations and invoices.


  • Reviewing Supplier and Subcontractor Statements to ensure all invoices have been received, processed, or queried.


  • Assisting with the preparation of supplier and subcontractor payment runs.


  • Investigating, paying, and recharging penalty charges.


  • Processing and preparing monthly staff expenses.


  • Liaising with the Purchasing department and Quantity Surveyors to ensure invoices are processed efficiently.


  • Dealing with external and internal queries regarding invoices, payments, and processes.


  • Resolving and raising queries in a timely and professional manner.


  • Assisting with month-end and year-end requirements.


  • Providing holiday cover for other finance duties and tasks as required.


  • Undertaking any other duties as requested by the Finance Manager, Senior Managers, or Directors.


    Experience

    • Previous experience in a finance or accounting support role is preferred.
    • Experience using accounting software or financial management systems is advantageous.
    • Experience working within a busy office environment is beneficial.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Qualification or working towards a qualification in accounting or finance.
    • Experience with Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software.
    • Previous experience within the public sector or charitable organisations.
