Summary
This is a one year, fixed term part time specialty doctor post in palliative medicine, based at Oakhaven Hospice. The post will consist of six sessions (three days a week) with a 1 in 5/6 non-residential on call. The post holder will work predominantly in the community with our experienced CNS team to support and manage patients in their own homes. Depending on clinical need the post holder will also work on the in-patient unit on occasion and will cover the in-patient unit whilst on call. Due to the level of autonomy required for community aspect this role it is expected that applicants will have a number of years of experience of community based palliative care provision and feel confident working independently in this setting (with support from senior clinicians as appropriate). This is a new post created to support the increasing demand we are seeing for our clinical service. The post-holder will be expected to work with professional colleagues and hospice managers in the efficient running of services and will share with other practitioners in the medical contribution to management. Subject to the provisions of the terms and conditions of service, you are expected to observe the Trusts agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the trust. All medical staff are expected to comply with appropriate health and safety policies.
