Summary

: The Lung Function Lab at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic, Child and Young Person Centred, person to join the team. Since 2016, the Lung Function Lab has performed over 5000 tests per year with children and young people. The successful candidate will join a small hard working team challenged with performing high quality testing for departments such as Respiratory, Rheumatology, Cardiology and Surgery. The role will include performing basic Lung Function testing such as Spirometry (with reversibility), FeNO and Overnight Saturation and TOSCA monitoring. The post will also include day to day running of the lab with cleaning and sterilising of equipment and stock ordering key to the role. A key part of the role will to be the main Lung Function advocate for the Cystic Fibrosis patients. The successful candidate will need to build up relationships with patients and families to ensure high quality results can be attained. The post holder will need to work well in a team and have excellent communication skills for both patients and parents and also with other staff members. Key Relationships (detail below) The successful candidate will need to have a good relationship with children and young people and be able to encourage and support them to perform well. They will also need to have a good relationship with parents/carers who bring their child or young person to the lab. They will also have a key relationship with the Lung Function Team and Senior Respiratory Clinical Scientist. The team is a small team; however, communication is important especially when the lab is busy. They will also need to report back to the Senior Respiratory Clinical Scientist any issues or concerns they may have The Lung Function Lab sits within the Respiratory Team at Alder Hey. A key relationship will be with clinicians (nurses, doctors and consultants) to relay results back and explain the importance of results.
