Summary
The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in assigned areas at Yate Town Council venues. This role includes performing routine cleaning tasks, ensuring sanitation standards are met, and supporting overall facility cleanliness.
2. MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
To undertake under the guidance of the Estates Manager or in their absence the Building Maintenance Supervisor other person appointed by the Town Clerk: -
a) To ensure that YTC buildings are cleaned, in accordance with cleaning schedules, to the required standard including;
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors.
Dust and wipe surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and replenishing supplies.
Empty trash bins, dispose of waste properly, and replace liners.
Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
Maintain cleaning equipment and report any repairs or replacements needed.
Restock cleaning supplies and ensure storage areas are organized.
Follow health and safety regulations, including the use of protective equipment.
Perform deep-cleaning tasks as required (e.g., carpet cleaning, floor polishing).
Respond to urgent cleaning requests promptly.
Ensure all work areas are left secure and tidy.
b) To ensure that the safety and security of YTC buildings is maintained at all times by checking that all fire exits etc. are kept clear and free. That all fire systems, security systems, external lighting etc. are switched on and off at the appropriate times.
c) To ensure the building is secure when leaving, all lights are out, all windows and doors are secure, the building is free from intruders and security alarm systems are armed where installed.
d) To undertake porterage duties as required.
e) To control and monitor the efficient operation of all plant within the building.
f) To complete weekly work sheets and any other records as required.
g) To attend appropriate training courses as instructed by the Town Council.
h) To undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Estates Manager or Building Maintenance Supervisor.
