Summary

Help deliver the department’s in-house stadium management, locking and unlocking duties and other duties to assist in delivering the maintenance and repair service to the sites within the post holder’s area of responsibility and to assist colleagues and counterparts in other locations as required.
Support and participate in initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all the College’s users.
Provide support to reception staff and first line of response at all operational times with the support (on or off site) of a senior manager.
Working as directed by the Estate Management team to help provide an effective inter-site facilities management and planned and responsive maintenance and repair service to College buildings and assist wherever possible in the delivery of the aims and objectives of the estates department by undertaking works or duties as defined but not limited to the following:
Form part of the cross-College Estates team which requires flexibility of working such that the crossing of role and responsibility boundaries is essential in performing other building, maintenance, and management tasks.
Act as a key holder to each of the sites within the post holder’s area of operations and to unlock and lock sites at the beginning and end of shifts, in a manner as laid out by the site operating procedures and in accordance with the rotas prepared by the Estate Co-Ordinator or Assistant Co-Ordinator.
Setting and un-setting of the alarm systems, including the recording and reporting of faults.
Monitor the operational performance of building services systems prior to the normal opening hours of the sites and report any failures to the Estates Co-Ordinator or Assistant Co-Ordinator.
Undertake litter clearance, minor maintenance works and inspections to internal and external areas of the College on a regular basis as directed by the Estate Co-Ordinator or Assistant Co-Ordinator.
Undertake regular inspections and litter collection patrols of the external areas of the sites including the adjacent public highways.
Help manage the day-to-day storage or waste prior to collection and to transfer waste to collection points as required. Undertake waste segregation duties as required and sign and forward any waste transfer notes.
To assist other members of the Estate team in the removal/positioning of equipment and other tasks required for the delivery of all estate functions including postal duties and driving college and hire vehicles when required.
Setting up and taking down of room layouts as required for differing classes, bookings and specific events, advise the Estate Management of any damage to fabric, fixtures, fittings and services and assist the Maintenance Technician in completing maintenance and inspection surveys.
Assist in maintaining site security and to respond to site emergencies as required.
Provide staff cover within the scope of your role and capabilities at times of high demand, sickness absence or leave to ensure the delivery of all the departmental service delivery functions and the stated aims and objectives.
Aware of College and departmental policies and procedures and to help enforce day-to-day compliance by building users.
Monitor and maintain adequate levels of cleaning soap and paper towels in toilet areas and to monitor cleanliness and to ensure adequate levels of stock are maintained to replenish the above.
Aware of and to comply with all requirements of the Health and Safety legislation relating to the duties and to the buildings and to help in the implementation of such practices and procedures that maintain compliance.
Undertake both reactive and proactive minor maintenance works and inspections as directed by the Site Services Supervisor or members of the Estates team.
Record electricity, gas and water meter readings on a schedule as determined by the Estate Management, be familiar with the location of all stopcocks, isolation valves, fire points and power services switch locations.
Ensure the levels of diesel fuel, lubrication and cooling fluids are checked and topped up on a regular basis and that all systems are tested as identified by the operating procedure for standby generators.
Maintain radio or mobile telephone contact with the Estate team, other staff and college reception staff whilst on duty.
Receive and manage work requests and to prioritise and record completion data within any system used to support the departmental helpdesk service function.
Where required, to receive, direct, assist and supervise all contractors and consultants visiting and/or working on site and advise department personnel as directed.
Assist in ensuring the efficient working of the heating, ventilation and lighting systems including the upkeep and maintenance of records and maintaining specified standards of performance.
Maintain a daily record of work carried out and complete works orders for return to the Helpdesk Administrator or the Estate Management Team.
Report defects in buildings, furniture, fittings and plant to the Estate Management Team.
Be prepared to drive/use mobile mechanical access equipment, a forklift truck and elevated work platforms (training will be given) as required.
Be able to drive the college vehicles and or mini-buses as and when required.
Work as part of the Stadium team in supervising the general public.
Be first aid trained or be willing towards a trained first aider.

The normal working hours for the week will be 37 hours between Monday and Sunday in shift patterns including early mornings and late evenings to meet the operational needs of the College. In addition, the Stadium Assistant will work at any other time during the weekend or out of normal hours in connection with the development, refurbishment, alterations and general running of the College Estate and any other functions which the College may organise.
