Summary

Tuition Role: Year 5 Tutor (SEMH & ASC Needs)
Hours: 2 hours per week
Days: Monday and Tuesday
Duration: Until the end of the academic year
Delivery: Face‑to‑face tuition

We are looking for an experienced tutor to provide individualised academic and emotional‑regulation support for a Year 5 student with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition). The tutor will deliver 2 hours of tailored tuition per week, split across Monday and Tuesday sessions, supporting core learning alongside confidence‑building and engagement strategies.

The student presents with:
- Social, emotional and mental health needs
- Autism‑related communication and interaction differences
- Difficulties with regulation, focus and consistent engagement
- A need for calm, predictable, highly structured support

They will benefit from a tutor who can build trust gradually, adapt learning tasks flexibly, and use positive, low‑pressure approaches to build engagement and academic confidence.
- Experience supporting children with SEMH and/or ASC
- Able to create a nurturing, consistent learning environment
- Skilled at scaffolding tasks and managing dysregulation with sensitivity
- Patient, calm and relationship‑focused
- Confident adapting learning materials to meet individual needs

About the tutoring
- Provide 1:1 tuition in core subjects or functional skills
- Deliver engaging, personalised learning sessions
- Support learners with varying needs and learning styles
- Track progress and adapt teaching approaches where needed
- Work in homes, schools, or community settings depending on placement

Requirements
- 6 months working in UK schools
- Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and/or Science
- Experience tutoring or teaching (school, intervention, tuition centre, or mentoring)
- Ability to build positive relationships with students
- Reliable, organised, and confident working independently
- A current enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
