Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well organised and enthusiastic individual to join the administration team within our Emergency Assessment Unit – EAU3. This post will enable the smooth running of the service and be the link between staff and patients.

You must be able to work both independently and within a team; you will provide an efficient and effective administration service for the ward. You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise your workload and work well under pressure.

You must be willing to learn, and work proactively on your own initiative. You should have excellent verbal, written, IT and customer care skills with a good understanding and practical experience of Microsoft applications. You must be able to uphold our Values of Together, Safe, Kind, and Excellent at all times.
1. Meet and receive patients, visitors and other members of staff to the ward in a polite, courteous and professional manner.
2. Answer the telephone and relay accurate messages as appropriate.
3. Maintain effective communications between patients, their relatives and the team within the department.
4. Liaise with all members of the multi professional team to ensure effective communications are maintained within the department and with other areas in the Trust.
5. Report complaints or concerns to the nurse in charge.
6. Assist in the orientation of new staff to the ward within the ward clerk remit.
7. Has a responsibility to ensure that the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of patients, relatives and colleagues is respected at all times.
8. Receive and respond to straightforward emails ·
9. Update the patients in the admissions & discharge book, and on the EPIC system
10. Liaise with colleagues on issues outside your control
11. Book appointments, transport, and transfers
12. Deal with requests in a timely manner
13. Photocopy and filing
14. Retrieve case notes
15. Maintain stock levels and place orders
16. Collect, open and distribute mail
17. Input information on Trust systems (i.e. EPIC)
18. Ability to back up computer and printer checks
19. Any other administrative duties as required
