Summary

Business Engagement Officer
Cardiff, CF10, Office-based with regular meetings across the city centre
Free On-Site Parking
Fixed Term until November 2026, with genuine potential for this to be extended in 5-year increments
Full Time, 37.5 hours per Week, Monday – Friday, (with very occasional evenings & weekends as required)
£27,900 per annum + Annual Bonus of up to 4%
25 Days Annual Leave + UK Bank Holidays
Pension scheme contributions

The Role:

The organisation is currently amidst a critical period as they prepare for their third term ballot. As such, this role will play an important part in ensuring businesses understand the value of their membership, are actively engaged in shaping future priorities, and feel confident in the organisation’s direction.

As Business Engagement Officer you will manage and grow relationships with a defined portfolio of businesses across a range of sectors. The role is focused on proactive engagement, relationship building, communicating impact and gathering insight on sector and city priorities during the ballot period.

This is a varied, outward facing role requiring confidence, strong communication skills and the ability to positively represent the organisation at all levels.



Responsibilities:

Develop and own relationships with a defined portfolio of members across multiple sectors.
Proactively engage businesses during the ballot period to ensure they understand the value, priorities and impact.
Identify historically disengaged members and implement targeted engagement approaches.
Clearly communicate projects, services and opportunities to members.
Act as a conduit for business feedback, ensuring sector and city priorities are captured and shared with the senior team.
Support businesses in understanding how organisational activity aligns with their commercial and operational priorities.
Maintain accurate records of engagement and key contacts using internal systems.
Represent the organisation at meetings, events, forums and stakeholder sessions as appropriate.
Contribute to presentations, briefings and engagement materials for businesses and stakeholders.
Support delivery of specific projects as communicated by the Management Team.
Keep informed of key issues affecting city centre businesses across sectors.
Work collaboratively with partners including the local authority, police, business groups and other stakeholders.


Skills & Experience:

Essential

Experience in account management, relationship management, sales, marketing or customer engagement.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility quickly.
Clear and confident communication skills, including experience of speaking or presenting to groups.
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
Proactive approach with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
Experience using MS Office and web-based databases or CRM systems.
Confident, personable and professional manner.
Desirable

Experience working with businesses in a city centre, retail, hospitality, leisure or service environment.
Knowledge of Business Improvement Districts or membership organisations.
Ability to communicate in Welsh.
