Salary: £14.40 per hour
Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated GRP Mould Maker to join our gatehouse & enclosure production team. The role involves manufacturing, preparing, and maintaining GRP moulds used in the production of high-quality composite products such as enclosures, panels, and modular structures.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone with strong laminating and surface preparation experience who takes pride in producing high-quality tooling.
Key Responsibilities
• Manufacture GRP moulds from patterns, or technical drawings.
• Prepare plug and mould surfaces, including filling, fairing, sanding, and polishing.
• Apply release agents, gel coats, and laminating systems.
• Carry out hand lay-up of glass fibre materials and resins.
• Trim, drill, and finish moulds to the required dimensions.
• Assemble and reinforce moulds, including flanges and support structures.
• Inspect moulds and carry out repairs, modifications, or refurbishment as required.
• Prepare moulds for production use to ensure consistent quality.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Work to production schedules and quality standards.
Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in GRP / composite manufacturing.
• Strong hand lay-up and laminating skills.
• Experience in surface preparation and achieving high-quality finishes.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable (but not essential)
• Experience producing large moulds or structural GRP components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Experience in mould repair and refurbishment.
• Forklift or lifting equipment experience.
