Our dedicated cancer centre, the Duchess of Devonshire Wing, brings together oncology and haematology services within a purpose designed inpatient and outpatient setting. The Oncology Inpatients team cares for patients undergoing complex cancer treatments, supported by strong multidisciplinary collaboration and visible nursing leadership The Role: As a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant within Oncology Inpatients, you will work under the supervision of registered nurses to deliver safe, compassionate and person-centred care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. You will support patients with personal care, mobility, nutrition and comfort, undertake and record clinical observations, and report any changes in condition promptly. You will play an important role in maintaining patient dignity, infection prevention standards and a safe ward environment. This is a hands-on clinical role within a specialist cancer service where teamwork, professionalism and reliability are essential. Key Duties: Deliver high quality, compassionate care to oncology inpatients under the supervision of a registered nurse Support patients with personal care, hygiene, mobility, nutrition and comfort while maintaining dignity and privacy Undertake and accurately record clinical observations including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and fluid balance Recognise and promptly report any changes in a patient's condition to the nurse in charge Assist in maintaining a safe, clean and well organised ward environment in line with infection prevention standards Support effective communication with patients, families and the wider multidisciplinary team Assist with stock control and safe use of clinical equipment Skills and Experience: Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within an acute hospital ward setting is essential Experience caring for patients with complex needs, ideally within oncology or a medical inpatient environment Ability to undertake and accurately record clinical observations Confident delivering personal care, mobility support and assisting with nutrition and hydration Clear understanding of infection prevention and control standards Strong communication skills and ability to escalate concerns appropriately Reliable, professional and able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Benefits We offer a range of benefits including flexible working and great career opportunities.
