Summary

Main duties and responsibilities specific to this role: Effective management of the clinical pharmacy workload / caseload, ensuring care is prioritised appropriately across Secure Services and the Kingfisher Unit. This involves identifying and prioritising service users who may require a higher level of pharmacy input and monitoring within these units. Carry out regular review of service user consent to treatment (CTT) documentation. Development and implementation of pharmacy standard operating procedures, Trust-wide procedures, and clinical guidelines, with a particular focus on secure services and Learning Disability and Autism, though not limited to these areas. Attend and participate in relevant pharmacy and service specific meetings as needed. To support with recruitment of pharmacy team members and undertake line management responsibilities of pharmacy technicians/assistants where appropriate. To provide mentoring for apprentice pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants to enable them to achieve competency and knowledge in medicines used to treat mental health disorders, with a particular focus on secure services and Learning Disability & Autism. Training and education of other healthcare professionals both informally at team level in pharmacy, Secure Services and The Kingfisher unit, and formally through learning events. Ensure service user involvement in the development of pharmacy services and improve access for service users to pharmacy staff. Practical Considerations The post holder must adhere to all security procedures at all times to ensure their and others safety. Emotional Effort Due to the nature of our patient group there is risk of occasional exposure both direct and indirect through consultations and record access to highly distressing situations.
