Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Payroll Support Officer, to help support the administration of NHS Payroll team, you will be based within our busy Payroll Department ensuring the delivery of a high quality service to our work force and external organisations.
You will support the Payroll Team and Payroll Management ensuring all processes within the department is adhered to in a timely and accurate manner. You will work closely with Pensions, Human Resources, and Expenses
You will need to have strong numerical and communication skills, along with the ability to work methodically and show attention to detail. This is an interesting role and we are looking for a conscientious team player who will ensure our high standards and positive reputation is maintained.

The post holder will support in the day to day administration and maintenance of Payroll, Pensions and Expenses records to safeguard an accurate and timely data approval and flow to ensure pay is accurate and timely. Also to provide accurate information, on request, to Staff, Managers and external agents;
They will be required to work independently and as part of a Team.

• To open and date stamp all incoming post, ensuring each item displays a valid assignment number, and is approved by an authorising signatory in line with the Authorised Signatory List (ASL requirements).
• Responsible for maintaining accurate databases that record all incoming applications for parental leave and distributing these to the appropriate Officer.
• Respond to and accurately carry out requests for earnings details from employees, Managers and external agents, including mortgage providers, and provide statistical information to relevant parties.
• To monitor and maintain the electronic post box for all amendments and terminations, ensuring they are distributed to relevant officer, raising queries for missing details/information directly with line managers, informing the Team Leaders about possible over/underpayments, proactively follow up outstanding queries
• Ensure all paperwork is appropriately filed.
• Assist the office with the input of data as instructed.
• Be the first contact for payroll queries from employees and managers, ensuring accurate and timely response to routine and more complex queries relating pay using tact and sensitivity when staff/managers may become distressed and are unfamiliar with pay processes or national terms and conditions of pay.
• Ensure a strong focus on excellent customer service when answering incoming telephone calls dealing with the enquiry or forwarding to relevant section.
• To provide general reception service for the Payroll department
• Understand and decipher all alterations to E-Roster payments that need to be amended, input and check the claims in an accurate and timely manner.
• Adhering to Policies and propose changes to working practices and procedures within the Payroll Support department with the ability to deal with non-routine queries and a range of procedures and practices across Payroll as a whole.
• Assist and Check elements on all New Starters entered onto ESR by Payroll Officers for accuracy.
• Responsible for voluntary deductions, like Healthcare plans, Union Subs, ensuring appropriate authority is present. Corresponding with the external agencies accordingly
• Create and input assignment sets within ESR for production of payslips for absentees and terminated employees.
