Summary

This is a great opportunity to be part of our Workplace Services and Property team, and take a lead role in ensuring that our modern workplaces deliver for our people and providing service excellence.

The team delivers a first rate customer service and specialist property support to the Department and external stakeholders. Our most recent successes include a complete redesign of our London HQ and significant improvements to our Manchester HQ to ensure our offices continue to adapt to our ever changing and dynamic workforce.

We work closely with cross government stakeholders to implement the Places for Growth and Plan for London strategies, to make sure our estate is shaped for the future.

You will be responsible for managing all aspects of health & safety at our 2 HQS (in Manchester and London) and other DCMS locations.

  • Develop, implement, and review Department-wide Health & Safety (H&S) policies and procedures in line with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g. HSE regulations).
  • Act as the appointed H&S Competent Person and provide expert advice to senior management and employees.
  • Inspecting DCMS Locations to identify and assess safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Developing evidence based risk assessments (fire, DSE, manual handling, COSHH, etc.), risk registers and business impact assessments for the department and senior officials.
  • Deliver training, inductions, and awareness campaigns on H&S topics.
  • Support Workplace Services colleagues to help create and maintain a safe, comfortable, and productive working environment.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues to improve policies and procedures relating to workplace risk assessments and reasonable adjustments
  • Deliver statutory reporting requirements such as accident reporting, carbon monitoring and internal routine reporting such as annual health and safety report, sustainability etc.

Manage service contracts, procurement, and relationships with third-party suppliers and contractors.
