About the Role
South Wales Alloys is a professional alloy wheel refurbishment workshop based in Newport, South Wales. We are recruiting an experienced and hands-on Workshop Manager to lead our workshop operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to take charge of a well-equipped facility, put your stamp on the processes, and build a team around you.
You will be responsible for managing the full wheel restoration process end-to-end, from customer intake through to final quality check and dispatch. You will be working with professional-grade equipment including Vixen wheel repair machinery, Aquablast systems, CNC diamond cutting lathes, and a full powder coating setup.
What You Will Be Doing
Managing the day-to-day running of the workshop, including workflow planning, quality control, and customer communication. Running the complete alloy wheel refurbishment process: chemical stripping, aquablasting, repair and preparation, powder coating application and curing, CNC diamond cutting, and final finishing. Operating and maintaining specialist equipment including Vixen wheel repair machines, Aquablast cabinets, CNC lathes, and powder coating ovens. Ensuring every wheel leaves the workshop to an exceptional standard. Building and eventually supervising a small team of technicians as the business grows. Managing stock, materials, and consumables. Maintaining health and safety standards throughout the workshop.
What We Need From You
This is a specialist role and we need someone who genuinely knows the trade. The ideal candidate will have:
ESSENTIAL
✓ Proven powder coating experience
✓ CNC diamond cut lathe operation
✓ Aquablasting / wet blasting experience
✓ Full wheel restoration process knowledge
✓ Quality-focused with high standards
✓ Ability to work independently
DESIRABLE
○ Workshop management experience
○ Team leadership / supervisory role
○ Vixen machinery experience
○ Customer-facing communication skills
○ TIG welding for wheel repairs
○ Full UK driving licence
