Summary
The Governing Board provides strategic leadership, robust accountability, oversight, and assurance for the educational and financial performance of the school.
Its core functions are to ensure that:
● the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined,
● the headteacher performs their responsibilities for the educational performance of the school, and
● the sound, proper and effective use of the school’s financial resources.
What will you do?
● Attend meetings of the Full Governing Board six times an academic year (three times face to face and three times online)
● Take on a link responsibility for a specific aspect of governance (Examples include: Finance, Buildings, Safeguarding, SEND, Curriculum and Outcomes). The link responsibility will reflect your interest and/or skills and experience. This involves visiting the school to review the link area with the relevant members of staff approx three times per year.

We are interested in applicants who:
● Are interested in children’s education and the performance of the school
● Like to work as part of a team
● Consider matters objectively and make informed judgements
● Have time to commit to the role
● Have experience in any of the following; strategy development, finance mgmt, buildings mgmt/ Health and Safety, education, safeguarding

What we provide All new Governors receive full, initial induction training to understand the school, the Governing Board and their roles and responsibilities and ongoing specific training or support in their chosen area.
There is also a buddy scheme for all new governors to help them onboard effectively.
