Summary
Job Overview
We are recruiting a Complex Support Worker to support a young man with a traumatic brain injury in his own home and within the community.
Due to a physical disability, he requires support with all aspects of daily living. He also has cognitive impairments, and support workers play a key role in promoting independence, offering choice, and encouraging meaningful engagement. Our client is determined, good-humoured, and motivated to make progress.
This role is ideal for someone confident, resilient, and proactive, who is comfortable working within routines while adapting to changing needs.
Pay and Hours
Bank hours available
Permanent hours available (average of 18 hours per week), consisting of Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s
Availability to support weekend shifts is essential
Pay £14 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality 2:1 person-centred care and support
Assist with all activities of daily living, including personal care
Support physiotherapy and wellbeing routines
Encourage physical, social, and community-based activities
Promote independence while maintaining safety and dignity
Manage challenging behaviour calmly and safely
Maintain accurate documentation to a high standard
Work collaboratively with family members and healthcare professionals
What We Are Looking For
Outgoing, confident, resilient, and proactive individuals
Strong communication skills and good English proficiency
Empathy and a person-centred approach to care
Ability to manage challenging behaviour and assess risk
Reliable and flexible, including weekend availability
Willingness to learn and undertake training
Experience supporting complex needs or learning disabilities preferred, training provided
Comfortable supporting non-verbal clients
A valid UK driving licence is preferred
Requirements
Enhanced DBS check required
Previous care experience preferred but not essential
Must be able to reliably commute to Portsmouth PO6 1DA or relocate prior to starting
