Summary

BRANCH ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

Our UNISON members in Gloucestershire work for local government and councils, schools, colleges and universities, charities and the third sector, and private contractors providing public services. An understanding of trade unions and their purpose is essential, although training will be provided.

We are looking for a talented Administration Officer to work 24 hours per week over four days, 9am-3pm (negotiable) based in our branch office within Hucclecote Library, Gloucester. The post-holder will be required to undertake a range of duties including essential administration and managing our Branch office and systems. You will often be the first point of contact for members, and you will support our Branch Officers and Stewards in their recruitment and organising activities. You will have the confidence to assist others, and be able to arrange, travel to and carry out recruitment stalls and other similar events.
You will assist the Branch Treasurer to manage Branch finances, and will assist the Branch Education Officer to manage mandatory training for Stewards and Branch Officers, and education opportunities for all members of our Branch.
Duties include providing basic advice to members and allocating casework to activists. You will use the UNISON membership database, the Branch case management systems, and the UNISON online Branch membership, finance and education systems, among others.

You will have a good telephone manner and strong interpersonal communication skills and will be able to handle members’ issues in a sensitive and positive manner. You will have a keen respect for confidentiality and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). It goes without saying you will need excellent digital skills to succeed, in addition to having the confidence to work on your own initiative, and as part of a team.

We encourage applicants of all ages, from black and minority ethnic groups, disabled people, LGBT+ people to work with us.

How to apply

Please email branch.office@unisongloslg.org.uk to request an application form. Completed, signed application forms should be returned to us as soon as possible. Reasonable adjustments for applications and interviews should be requested by email. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis and the vacancy will close once an appointment is made. Please note that if you do not hear from us, you have not been shortlisted on this occasion.

Contact the branch secretary on 07745 905279 for an informal discussion about the role.

Please note the successful applicant will be employed directly by the branch, and the national UNISON terms and conditions do not apply.
