We are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK organisation seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join their Technology team on a 9-month fixed-term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a data-driven environment where you will play a key role in connecting systems, optimising data flows, and enabling high-quality reporting and analytics across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and manage data flows connecting operational systems to analytics and BI platforms
Document clear source-to-target mappings to ensure consistency and data integrity
Re-engineer manual data processes to improve scalability and efficiency
Support development of data streaming and integration solutions
Write and optimise ELT scripts and related code
Develop reusable BI reports and structured datasets
Design accessible, well-organised data models to support reporting and analysis
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Advanced SQL skills
Experience with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL Database or Snowflake
Proven experience in relational database design and performance tuning for BI solutions
Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (Product Owners, Architects, third-party vendors)
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Desirable Experience
Experience with on-premise platforms such as MS SQL Server
Knowledge of data migration strategies (on-premise to cloud)
Experience documenting technical designs and architecture proposals
Familiarity with DataOps practices (automated testing, pipeline optimisation)
Understanding of data governance, GDPR, data masking, and securing sensitive data
